چکیده

We present ground-based high-resolution high S/N spectra of the slowly pulsating B star HD 147394. Two frequencies are clearly found in the moments of the Si II 4128-4130 doublet: f1 = 0.8008 c d−1 and f2 = 0.7813 c d−1. The frequency f1 is also found in the HIPPARCOS data. A third frequency is also present in our spectroscopic data: f3 = 0.7175 c d−1 or its aliases due to the time sampling. A mode identification is performed by means of a new version of the moment method optimized for multiperiodic signals. It points towards several equivalent solutions of non-axisymmetric ≤ 3 for all three modes. We have too limited information to perform seismic modelling at this stage, but we do show that the different possibilities for the mode identifications are compatible with pulsational models for SPBs.

HD 42927 and HD 126341 : two pulsating B stars surrounded by circumstellar dust ?

We have performed an infrared study of pulsating B stars. The main conclusion is that none of the 163 (non-)radial pulsators shows an IR excess flux due to free-free emission, despite the fact that the sample contains several rapid rotators. Two β Cep stars and two slowly pulsating B stars do exhibit an unexpected infrared colour excess at 12 μm. The small IR excess of the B 2 IV β Cep star HD ...

Line profile analysis of the δ Scuti star HD 2724≡BB Phe: mode identification and amplitude variations

The line profile variations of the δ Scuti star HD 2724≡BB Phe were studied on the basis of new 189 high– resolution spectrograms covering 52 hours of observations on a baseline of 8.3 days. By combining these results with those of a previous campaign 13 pulsation modes were identified: 5 of them are both photometric and spectroscopic, 3 are purely spectroscopic and 5 purely photometric. For th...

Discovery of magnetic fields in three He variable Bp stars with He and Si spots

stars: magnetic fields It is essential for the understanding of stellar structure models of high mass stars to explain why constant stars, non-pulsating chemically peculiar hot Bp stars and pulsating stars co-exist in the slowly pulsating B stars and β Cephei instability strips. We have conducted a search for magnetic fields in the four Bp stars HD 55522, HD 105382, HD 131120, and HD 138769 whi...

Mode Identification of the Slowly Pulsating F 0 V Star

We have investigated the F0V star V398Aurigae (= 9 Aur) under the assumption that it is undergoing non-radial gravity mode oscillations and that the two principal periods given by Krisciunas et al. (1995) are correct. We find that the two periods are manifestations of an l = 3, |m| = 1 spheroidal mode and its toroidal corrections due to the rotation of the star. As far as we know, this is the f...

The Ap spectroscopic binary HD 59435 revisited ? , ? ?

HD 59435 is a double-lined spectroscopic binary, one component of which is a magnetic Ap star and the other a G8 or K0 giant (Wade et al. 1996). Both components are very slowly rotating, and the Ap star exhibits spectral lines resolved into their magneti cally-split components. Herein we report additional measurements of the mean magnetic field modulus of the Ap star, measurements of the radial...
